The Cancer Care Center provides radiation therapy for all types of malignancies. Various treatment modalities are employed, including external beam irradiation, therapy with radioisotope sources, and intravascular brachytherapy. The department is located near the Chemotherapy Infusion Center, which is convenient for combined modality programs. The department is staffed by a team of experienced radiation therapists, physicists and dosimetrists – treating several hundred patients a year.
With funds from the Harney Foundation, the department was established in 1980 for the purpose of offering Northern San Mateo County residents and neighboring San Francisco cancer patients easy access to an oncology treatment facility. Patients who are mobility challenged and may require transportation for therapy are accommodated with funds from the Seton Medical Center Foundation.
